Potassium is a mineral that is found in the foods that you eat.

They help to assist in general body functions such as.

Muscle contraction

Water balance

Blood Pressure

Heart Rythmn

Digestion

PH balance

Nerve impulses

It is important to consume the right balance of potassium rich food because the body does not make its own potassium.

Consuming to much or too little potassium can cause serious health consequences.

There are certain conditions that can cause potassium deficiency such as

Kidney disease

magnesium deficiency

use of antibiotics, such as carbenicillin and penicillin

Excess sweating, diarrhea and vomiting

Severe deficiencies can be life-threatening. Signs of a potassium deficiency include:

  • extreme fatigue

  • muscle spasms, weakness, or cramping

  • irregular heartbeat

  • constipation, nausea, or vomiting

There is also the risk of overdosing on Potassium which is rare for those who have a balanced diet. Some risk factors are:

Taking too many supplements (potassium)

Prolonged exercise

Kidney disease

diabetes

Cocaine use

Chemotherapy.
