Lets AVO look at Avocados.


I love Avocado.

I love it on toast, in salads, with my eggs in my smoothies. I just love it. I think that it is one of those Love or Hate kinds of fruit. And YES it is a fruit.

The Avocado can even be seen on the SUPER FOOD list as it is very high in nutrient value.

 

The yellow flesh on the inside is to be eaten but the seed and the outside skin we discard.

Here are some stats of the nutrients that are packed into the beautiful Avocado.

The Avocado also contains traces of magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, phosphorus, Manganese, Vitamin B1 B2 B3 and A

Avocados are high in Potassium, more so that their friend the Banana. They have around 14% of the daily recommended intake. Most people do not get enough potassium in their diets. Bananas have 10% Recommended daily allowance

Studies show that potassium is linked with reducing blood pressure which is a contributor to heart attacks, stroke and kidney failure.

 

Avocado is a high fat food and this should not scare you aware. The fats in an Avocado are great for you health and especially heart health. This plant is the fattiest plant out there with 77% of the calories in it coming from fat. Again don't freak out. The majority of that fat is oleic acid, a monounsaturated acid which happens to be the main component of olive oil.

 

Avocados are packed with Fibre.

It indigestible plant matter than can help with weight loss, reduce blood sugar spikes and linked to reducing risks of many health related diseases.

In 100 gram serving of avocado you will find that it has 7 grams of fibre which is 27% of the recommended daily intake.

There are two types of fibre and one is soluble and the other insoluble and about 25% of the fibre in avocado is soluble. While 75% is insoluble.

Soluble fibre is the one that is known for feeding the gut friendly bacteria in your body.

 

This gorgeous fruit is loaded with Antioxidants.

Their fat content can help you absorb nutrients from plant foods.

Even though the Avocado is packed with fat it can help you to lose weight. As it helps the person feel more satisfied and satiated as it is high in fibre and low in Carbohydrates.
